Norcross High Football Powerhouse Powers Down in State Class 6A Rankings

Colquitt County takes the top spot in a USA Today ranking.

There's only been one game, but that was enough for some analysts to drop the Blue Devils' high school football standing.

According to the AJC, Norcross High School -- the defending Class 6A champ -- fell to the state's No. 6 position in one ranking after a blistering loss in the ESPN High School Football Kickoff Series.

Booker T. Washington High -- which is arguably the best team in the nation -- beat the Blue Devils, 55-0, in the Aug. 24 showdown.

With a number of season openers completed, the AJC reported that USA Today changed its rankings from its preseason highlights.

Before the ESPN televised game, Norcross High was ranked. No. 1 in its Class 6A. Now, that honor goes to Colquitt County.

It's important to note that at least two teams ranked higher than Norcross High have not played this season.

Rankings:

1. Colquitt County (1-0)
