Norcross Girls Fall in Semifinals

Two-time defending state champion lost to McEachern 64-61.

Norcross High School's hopes of three-peating in Class AAAAA girls basketball came to an end Thursday in Duluth.

Despite storming back from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils lost to undefeated McEachern 64-61 in a state semifinal game at the Gwinnett Arena.

Norcross had won the previous two state titles.

The Blue Devils trailed 54-41 early in the fourth quarter before pulling to as close as two points with less than two minutes remaining.

But McEachern made four of its last five free throws and Norcross missed two three-point chances in the final six seconds to close out the game.
