After winning the school's first state football championship title in December 2012, the Norcross High School varsity football team was in the spotlight again on Tuesday night.
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners invited the team to its monthly meeting and presented a Resolution of Recognition to the Blue Devils for the win.
"I was so excited watching the championship game," Commissioner Lynette Howard told the coaching staff and team. "It was a magical time, everyone was so excited. We believed ... and you won," she said.
It was a magical season for the Norcross team who finished up the season 15-0, capturing the state title with a comeback 21-14 win over Lovejoy High School at the Georgia Dome and earning the rank of 16th in the nation.
"It's been an unbelievable ride," said Head Coach Keith Maloof. "This is an incredible group of guys ... it takes a special group to get it done."
The 2012 State Championship was the first for Norcross High School football team in the school's history.
