National Signing Day: College Commitments From Norcross Schools

Gwinnett County’s football power reaches well beyond the Chattahoochee River, Blue Ridge Mountains and Okefenokee Swamp.

How about all the way to the Atlantic, Pacific and Great Lakes?

When National Signing Day on Feb. 6 hits Gwinnett, our favorite Friday Night heroes will officially decide where they’ll take their football skills in college.

Some of them — like Archer’s Trey Cheek (California) and Central Gwinnett’s Trey Johnson (Ohio State) — will end up a long way from home.

Others — like South Gwinnett’s Reginald Carter, Brookwood’s Shaun McGee and Buford’s Josh Cardiello — will be right around the corner.

But what about Norcross schools? Here's a look at some of the commitments already announced at Greater Atlanta Christian School and Norcross High:

GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN

• Peter Whiteneck, Pennsylvania
• Daniel Yoon, St. Anselm

NORCROSS

• Joseph Ledford, Georgetown
• Tommy Tate, Western Carolina
• Jahmal Jones, Middle Tennessee State
• Shon Akins, Middle Tennessee State

Norcross' Joseph Wilber will sign, and is leaning toward West Georgia. Running back Alvin Kamara will sign, too, and pick between Georgia and Alabama.

GAC spokesman Jamie Dalton said two other football players plan to commit, too.
