High School Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship Rocks Norcross

The contest was shot at Greater Atlanta Christian School and will air nationwide Saturday on CBS.

The best high-flying and long-distance-shooting high school basketball players came to Norcross Friday for the 2013 High School Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships. The event was held at Greater Atlanta Christian Schools.

First up was the 3-point contest. High school seniors across the country lined up behind the arc and had one minute to shoot as many threes as possible. The title of sharpest shooter went to Conner Frankamp of Wichita, Kansas. Frankamp will play basketball for the University of Kansas next fall.

The Harlem Globetrotters provided entertainment in between the contests for the arena full of GAC students. The team showed off their ball handling skills with a short routine.

A second group of high school stars soared above the rim with dazzling dunks. GAC students held signs after each dunk with what score they believed each dunk earned. However, a panel of four judges ultimately decided the winner. Sherwood Brown, a junior guard on the NCAA tournament bracket busting Florida Gulf Coast University, served as a guest judge. The other judges were Bull Bullard of the Harlem Globetrotters, Dunkin' Doug Anderson of Detroit-- the winner of the college slam dunk contest held Thursday at Georgia Tech, and Daryl Latham of American Family Insurance.

This year's winner was a local. Isaiah Dennis of McDonough's dunk thrilled the judges and fans alike. Dennis will stay close by when he plays basketball at Georgia State University this fall.
