Each week through the high school season, Patch will share our predictions on local football games — and ask for yours. Think you’ve got what it takes to pick a winner?

Let’s get it on.

Greater Atlanta Christian at Columbia: GAC has bigger and better things in mind for the 2011 season than its opener at Columbia. No offense to the Eagles, a team with talent from Region 5-AAA. But the Spartans look poised for a special season. With 13 starters back from a team that went 9-3 in Class AA, the Spartans have the look of a region contender and possible deep runner in the state playoffs. Their first step is tonight and should be a good one. GAC 35, Columbia 14.

Meadowcreek at Northview: Northview went only 1-9 last year, the lone victory a 28-15 decision over Meadowcreek. Meadowcreek, which once had a 43-game losing streak, went 0-10 and scored more points in the Northview loss than it did the rest of the season. Northview looked good in a 21-17 scrimmage victory over Johns Creek recently. Meadowcreek? Well, we just don't know yet. Northview 35, Meadowcreek 17.

Note: Norcross, which beat Dacula last week, is idle this week.
