GAC Boys' Soccer Pummels Thomasville 10-0

The Greater Atlanta Christian boys' soccer team trounced Thomasville 10-0 in the second round of the Class AA State Soccer Tournament.

It was just another day at the office for GAC as they beat Thomasville 10-0 Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the Class AA State Soccer Tournament.

GAC totally dominated the match from start to finish.  In fact, the matched was "over" before it was over due to the GHSA's 10-goal mercy rule.  There was still more than 25 minutes to play.

Kyle Reese put the Spartans on the scoreboard just 1:16 into the match when he took an assist from Stewart Abrahart and scored.  Five minutes later, Denzel Clarke scored the first of his two goals in the match on a header from a Kyle Reese corner kick.

Stevin Bienfait took a long ball from Cameron Johnson and scored to make it 3-0.  Then Clarke scored his second goal of the day, prompting the crowd to sing "Happy Birthday."   Kyle Reese scored his second goal of the day in the way of a penalty kick after being taken sown in the box.  Then, with 30 seconds left before halftime, Danny Knight took a pass from Bienfait and scored to give the Spartans a 6-0 bulge at the half.

The Spartans put 4 more goals on the board to shorten the game by at least 25 minutes:  the last coming off Grant Griffin's chip shot over the Thomasville keeper's head to end the game at 10-0.

"We wanted to get an early goal.  That was our thing.  We knew they had a long bus drive up and we played them and beat them pretty good earlier in the season," GAC Head Coach Thom Jacquet said.  "We knew that if we could get one or two quick goals that we would probably be in control," Jacquet said.

GAC  (16-2)  will host North Oconee on Wednesday in the Class AA semifinals.
