Hundreds of volunteers have been gearing up for months preparing for the 9th Annual Taste of Norcross High, the event is Friday, Nov. 2 at the high school. The fun begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Local restaurants, (this year there will be 30 from Peachtree Corners and Norcross) and local businesses are lending their support for the annual fund-raising event that benefits the school athletics and activities departments.
"The restaurants donate the food so Norcross High School will benefit," said Florence Luranc, co-chair of the event. "There is such a variety, everything from vegetarian, a chocolate fountain, Italian, Indian - and even Chick-fil-A." A complete list of the restaurants is on the Taste of Norcross High's website.
Businesses lend their support by donating items for the silent auction. "We've got some really wonderful items this year," said Luranc, "vacations, sports memorabilia, catering, spa certificates and lots more."
As an added feature this year the mayors of Norcross, Bucky Johnson, and Peachtree Corners, Mike Mason, will be on hand for a taste test to help kick off the event.
"It's a great way for the community to come together to support the school," added Luranc.
Kirk Barton, the Activities and Athletics Director co-chairs the Taste of Norcross High. "It's a big undertaking," said Luranc who said some 150 volunteers lend a collective hand just on Friday night.
Booster clubs have been busy selling tickets, but tickets may be purchased at the door on Friday for $15 each. A ticket is redeemable for five tastings and one drink. Families may not need a ticket for each person because tastings may be shared.
There will also be a Kidz Zone in the auxiliary gym with fun activities for kids. The cost is $7. Click HERE for more information on the Kidz Zone.
