Over 350 Retire from Gwinnett Schools

The 2010-11 school year ended years of dedicated careers for a number of Norcross area teachers and staff.

The last day of school marked the end of studies for  most Norcross kids, it also was the last day of school for a number of Gwinnett County Public School teachers who retired at the end of the 2010-11 school year.

In all, 372 GCPS employees retired from Gwinnett County Public Schools this year, 11 of them from Norcross area schools . The list includes long-time support staff, classroom teachers and nutrition program workers:

  • Dr. Marcia Grady, Norcross High, Biology Teacher, 30 years in education, 8 years in Gwinnett.
  • Hoe Nyuyen, Norcross High, Custodian, 10 years in education, all in GCPS
  • Ofelia J. Arce-Caicedo, Parent Liaison, Meadowcreek Elementary, 34  years in education, 24 years in Gwinnett.
  • Jimmy Atkins, Custodian, GIVE Center East, 5 years in education,
     all in Gwinnett.
  • Ann Z. Bishop, Reading Recovery and Early Intervention Program Teacher, Norcross Elementary, 26 years in education, 24 years in Gwinnett.
  •  Dr. Roland A. Caissie, ESOL Teacher, Summerour Middle, 38 years in education, 11 years in Gwinnett. 
  • Patricia L. Corbett, School Nutrition Program Worker, Meadowcreek Elementary, 6 years in education, all in Gwinnett. 
  • Becky De Lappe, ESOL Teacher, Meadowcreek Elementary, 36 years in  education, 24 years in Gwinnett.
  • Blanca Harrington, 4th Grade Teacher, Rockbridge Elementary, 33 years in education, 11 years in Gwinnett.
  • Kelleen Hemsley, School Clerk IV, Meadowcreek High, 12 years in education, all in Gwinnett. 
  • Nancy Jukins, 3rd Grade Teacher, Stripling Elementary, 28 years in education, 25 years in Gwinnett.
