The Georgia High School Football Daily released the Maxwell Ratings' final state rankings this week, and Norcross High ended up on top.
The Blue Devils reached the No. 1 spot in the All-Classification category for Georgia's 412 football-playing schools.
The ranking comes at no surprise since Norcross was named the No. 3 team in the country in the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings earlier this week. Also, Norcross was named the High 5 Sports Team of the Year.
In the state rankings, Norcross is followed by Lovejoy High at No. 2, No. 3's North Gwinnett, Camden County at No. 4, and Sandy Creek in the fifth slot.
On Saturday, Dec. 15, Norcross High played its first-ever state championship game and won against Lovejoy 21-14. The Blue Devils also had an undefeated season this year with 15 games.
The Maxwell Ratings are the work of Loren Maxwell, a co-founder of the Georgia High School Football Historian Association. Maxwell has been involved in sports ratings since 1986.
