The school year may be almost over, but usually it doesn't end without a big bang.
The drama club at is heading to the this Monday, May 21, for its production of "Rumpelstiltskin, Private Eye."
"This will be the students' first performance for an open audience," said Kathleen Allen, the school's PTA president.
Featuring 17 second and third graders from the school’s FOCUS program, the play is more than just a twist on Rumpelstiltskin; it's a mash-up of multiple fairy tales.
Rumpelstiltskin is still a miller in this story, but he's also a private investigator. His daughter is kidnapped by the greedy king because he thinks she can spin gold, so Rumpelstiltskin investigates the case to try to get her back. He finds out that she doesn't want to be saved, though, and would rather be queen.
The club is inviting everyone to the dinner-theater event, so bring those lawn chairs, blankets and to-go dinners and enjoy the show. Free ice pops will be available to all the Norcross Elementary students who attend.
Norcross Elementary's drama club production of "Rumpelstiltskin, Private Eye" will take place Monday, May 21, at 5 p.m. in Thrasher Park Amphitheatre, located at 93 Park Drive in downtown Norcross. Admission is free.
