Meet the Valedictorians and Salutatorians for Norcross and Meadowcreek

Allison Fisher and Robert Hensey have been named Norcross High School's top students and Yonnatan Manmektew and My Duyen Vo for Meadowcreek High.

Gwinnett Public Schools recently released the names of the valedictorians and salutatorians from Norcross High and Meadowcreek High schools.

The title of valedictorian is typically given to the student with the highest GPA, and salutatorian is given to the student with the second-highest GPA. Photos of the honorees are included with the story.

Allison Fisher, daughter of Diane and Jeff Fisher, plans to attend Princeton University in the fall and majoring in engineering and computer science. Her career goals is to contribute to sustainable infrastructure worldwide.

She also had scholarship offers for Georgia Tech Stamps Leadership Scholarship Washington University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She is the recipient of a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship.

Her honors and awards include: Future Problem Solving International Champion, Georgia Governor's Honors Program, National Merit Scholar, AP National Scholar and Scholar with Distinction, Norcross High School STAR Student.

Allison is a member of the Blue Devils Marching Band, the Future Problem Solving Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Concert Band, Math Team, National Honor Society and Senior Beta Club.

Salutatorian:

Robert Hensey, son of Robert and Mary Ann Hensey, will be attending Georgia Tech and plans on majoring on computer science. He also received an offer for a Zell Miller Scholarship. His career goal is to become a programmer and enjoy life.

His honors and awards include: National AP Scholar, Dorothy Lewis 800 Club, National Spanish Exam 2nd Place, Governor's Honors Program in Mathematics.

Robert is a member of the Blue Devils Marching Band, Math Team, National Honors Society, International Baccalaureate Club and offered flute tutoring. He is also a member of Mary Our Queen Youth Group.

Meadowcreek High School

Valedictorian

Yonnatan Manmektew, son of Eyob Wtegegn and Lemlem Fanta, will be attending Georgetown University and is undecided at this point on his major, but is considering entering the law or medical field. He received a $28,075 scholarship from Georgetown University. He was also offered a Maxxis and Gates Millennium Scholarship.

His honors and awards include: Gates Millennium Scholar, Captain for Cross Country, Scholar Athlete and Beta Club Vice President.

Yonnatan is a member of the varsity soccer and cross country teams, Science Olympiad, Academic Team, Latin Club, Student Council, Simply Qualified, Unified and Determined (SQUAD community service organization).

Salutatorian

My Duyen Vo, daughter of Linh Vo and Thu Van Nguyen, plans on attending Emory University and will major in psychology with a career goal to become a surgeon. She received an Emory College Grant for $55,879 and had a $500 scholarship offer from Maxxis Scholarship.

Her honors and awards include: 3rd Place in Readers Rally and 2nd Place for Science Olympiad in Materials Science and 3rd Place in Forensics.

She is a member of the Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Latin Club, Interact Club and National Honors Junior Classical League.
