NHS Names Jay Nebel as Teacher of the Year

The social studies teacher and girls varsity basketball coach takes top honors for the 2012-2013 school year.

teachers and staff named Social Studies teacher, Jay Nebel, as the Teacher of the Year for 2012-13.

Nebel was among three finalists that included Logan Malm and Lauren Watson.

An announcement in the Sept. 6, 2012 NHS Blue Devil Bulletin stated: "... Nebel has been a valued social studies teacher as well as a girl's varsity basketball coach at NHS since 2007.

"This year, along with Mr. Travis Chapman, Mr. Nebel conceived and established the STARS program to focus some of the school's most at-risk students on the goal of graduating while supporting them with the skills and motivational mind set to be academically successful."

The Teacher of the Year recognition represents a stellar example of teaching practices and a model of the teaching profession.
