Gwinnett's Teachers of the Year Announced

Each school's winner, including nine from Norcross schools, will be considered for the Gwinnett County Public Schools' top award.

Gwinnett County Public Schools has released the list of 2011-2012 Teachers of the Year for each of its 129 schools.

One teacher was named for each school, selected by their colleagues.

Out of all the schools' winners, 25 will be selected as semifinalists for the countywide Teacher of the Year award.

Those names will be announced later this month. The group will then be whittled down to a field of six finalists in mid-October. The announcement of Gwinnett's Teacher of the Year will be made at an annual banquet on Nov. 3.

: Nancy Luker, Physical Education (Grades K-5).

: April Greene, Mathematics (Grades 9-11).          

: Julie Elliott, ESOL (Grade 5).

: Dr. Karen Dickens, College Prep, Honors and AP Chemistry (Grades 10-12).       

: Venice Hinds, First Grade.

: Robin Watson, Mathematics (Grades 9-12)

Mary Butler, Special Education- Moderate Autism (Grades K-2).        

Kim Renfroe, Special Education-Moderate Intellectual Disabilities (Grades K-2).

: Rebecca Searles, Special Education-Interrelated Resource (Grade 7).
