Gwinnett County Public Schools will hire as many as 850 new teachers next year, as more than 3,000 new students are expected in the fall.
The state’s largest school system will have more than 170,000 students next year.
WSB-TV reported that number of teachers needed could rise as the 2014-15 school year approaches.
The system is especially looking for teachers certified in math, science, technology and foreign languages.
The system will host a certified teacher job fair this Saturday, March 22, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Gwinnett Center on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth. It’s an invitation-only event, so interested teachers who want an interview need to apply online by Thursday, March 20.
