Georgia Students Hold Steady in ACT Results, National Average Dips

In 2013, more than half of the graduating class took the ACT. Over the past five years, Georgia's students' scores have been roughly the same.

Georgia high school students' scores on this year’s ACT college entrance exam held steady, as compared with a declining national average score, according to data released Wednesday by exam officials.

Georgia’s composite score this year was 20.7 -- the same as last year -- for  public and private high school students.* Although the national composite score surpasses Georgia, it declined from 21.1 to 20.9.

ACT scores extend to a high of 36.

Over the past five years, Georgia's composite score has remained steady, as well. It has been either 20.6 or 20.7 since 2009. These results posted even as the number of students taking the exam increased.
