Christmas Trees for Sale at Annual NHS Baseball Fundraiser

Fresh trees and wreaths are for sale until Dec. 18. Proceeds from the tree sales helps fund the Blue Devils baseball team.

Sunday, it turns out, was a perfect day to buy a Christmas tree.

The lot at the annual Norcross High School Dugout Club Christmas Tree Sale was filled with families from Norcross, Peachtree Corners and Berkeley Lake who took advantage of the unseasonably warm afternoon to shop for a tree at the Norcross Baseball Team's annual tree sale fundraiser. The lot is located on the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Spalding Drive.

Chris Prince was shopping for the family's Christmas tree along with his, son Peyton, and daughter Piper, Sunday afternoon. "We've been buying trees here for a couple of years," said Prince who lives in Berkeley Lake. "We're glad to help these guys out."

The annual Norcross Baseball Christmas tree fundraiser sale is now in its 14th year. And over the years they've collected a steady following as people come back year after year to buy from them.

"We come every year, said Mrs. Martin who, along with her two daughters, made their selection. "It's a good fund raiser for the school," said Martin. She says the family selects their tree each year by voting - all in favor and that the one chosen for the Martin household that year.

The fundraiser helps bring in additional funds needed for the baseball team. "Each member of the team is required to work two time slots," said Herb Lewis whose son Beau was helping out that day.

The trees come from Boone, N.C., and will be on sale through Tuesday, Dec. 18. The lot is open from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Friday and from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on the weekends.
