Art, Wine & Jazz This Saturday

The event will help raise money for the Norcross Cluster Schools Partnership.

Looking for something to do this weekend? The Norcross Business Association is sponsoring the Art, Wine & Jazz event this Saturday to benefit the Norcross Cluster Schools Partnership.

Held in Peachtree Corners' gallery, the business-casual event will have artwork, drinks, food and dancing. The Traveling Vineyard will be having a professional wine tasting, too.

"We just thought it would be a fun, one-of-a-kind event and a something great to do for the community," said Ranae Heaven, co-founder of NCSP. "In turn, we can fund some of the projects for the [school] cluster."

A live band will be playing, with Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson on the drums. What many may not have known about the mayor is that has had a long musical career: He started playing the drums at the age of 11 and has been a band director at Georgia Tech and on the high school level.

"I have a quartet that I play with occasionally, and we really only do events like this," said Johnson, referring to fundraisers. Two other members of the usual quartet will performing jazz standards with the mayor, in addition to a local citizen on the piano.
