Ala. Tide Floods NHS Running Back's Mailbox

Alvin Kamara, a running back at Norcross High, received a total of 105 letters from the University of Alabama to try to recruit him.

Rivals.com reported that Alvin Kamara, a four-star junior running back at Norcross High, received a total of 105 letters from the University of Alabama in efforts to recruit him.

"I counted!" Kamara said to Rivals.com. "And I took pictures. I was shocked. I didn't expect there to be that many in the mailbox. When I opened it, it was overflowing and some of them fell out."

Alabama is just one of nine schools that have offered Kamara a spot on its team. His latest came from Mississippi State on Thursday, reported Rivals.com, but he received his first offer last fall from Syracruse.

Kamara is a solid RB known for his exceptional speed. He competed in the Georgia Junior Bowl last December and rushed for 1,500 yards last year.

Because of his strong performance in the all-star game, Kamara is one of the state's most sought-after juniors.

"Right now, I don't have any leaders, but I'll say a few schools stand out a little bit," Kamara told Rivals.com. "Alabama, Georgia and Syracuse. Recruiting wise, they stay in touch with me the most.

"Coach [Bryan] McClendon at Georgia stays in touch with me; Coach [Tyrone] Wheatley at Syracuse keeps in touch with me."

Alabama is just the most persistent.

"Coach [Kirby] Smart at Alabama - we talk two or three times a week," he said.

As for who's recruiting him the hardest, Kamara's answer isn't surprising.

"I'll say Alabama, just based on what other schools are doing and what Alabama is doing," Kamara said to Rivals.com. "I went there [for junior day] and it went well. I liked the atmosphere. It's SEC football. It's big-time football. You can feel it when you go up there."
