New Homes Planned for Norcross

A 62-home community named Adams Vineyard is proposed for a 20-acre tract on North Peachtree Street and Reps Miller Road.

You may have already noticed the yellow signs placed on the corner of North Peachtree Street and Reps Miller Road announcing the property is up for possible rezoning.

There are actually four parcels that are being considered for rezoning to allow for a 62-home planned development to be built on 20.78 acres. Robert Forro, who has developed Lum Howell and Col. Jones subdivisions in Norcross, has submitted preliminary plans for the property.

"It's the last acreage of any this size of undeveloped property in the city of Norcross," said Chris McCrary, Community Development Director for the city.

The acreage includes the property on which the Flowers house is currently located. The house will be preserved said McCrary and could possibly be renovated and serve as a single family home or possibly a clubhouse for the new development.

The developer has named the proposed subdivision Adams Vineyard. Preliminary plans call for preserving the vineyards that are on the property along with a second home.

The new homes would all be single family detached units, the development would include 40 percent open space with walking paths.

"There is a need of housing inventory here," said McCrary.

On August 6 the developers plans will go before Planning & Zoning Commission for their review and comments. Then on Sept. 3 the City Council will review them.

A copy of the plans is included with this story. You may also review them at City Hall or call the Community Development Department at 678-421-2027 for more information.
