What to Expect on the Nov. 6th Ballot

Check out what Norcross voters will see on the ballot.

Norcross residents will be casting their votes for not only the President of the United States but on the state level for Public Service Commissioner, State Representatives and a number of seats on the county level including County Commission Chairman and for County Board of Education for District 3 and District 5.

For a sample ballot, visit the Georgia Secretary of State's website.

Also on the ballot are two proposed amendments to the Georgia's state constitution.

Amendment 1, (also known as the Charter School Amendment). The introduction on the ballot reads: "Provides for improving student achievement and parental involvement through more public charter school options."

The actual amendment question reads: "Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow state or local approval of public charter schools upon the request of local communities."

Amendment 2, perhaps lesser known is a proposed amendment that is expected to save the state money. The introduction on the ballot reads: "Allows the state to save taxpayer funds through multi-year real estate rental agreements."

The actual amendment question reads: "Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to provide for a reduction in the state's operating costs by allowing the General Assembly to authorize certain state agencies to enter into multiyear rental agreements?"

Aside from the amendments, city of Norcross residents also will be voting for candidates in the Norcross City Council. Three councilmen are running for re-election this year, and two are running opposed. For more information on that race, click here.

Included with this article is a booklet provided by the State of Georgia explaining the two amendments. It's provided in PDF form and may be printed by clicking on the form itself, then clicking on the "Print" option.
