USPS To Stop Saturday Mail Delivery in August
Package delivery from the United States Postal Service would continue Saturdays. The plan reportedly would save the agency about $2 billion annually.
By mid summer, Norcross residents will no longer get their mail delivered to their homes if a plan by the U.S. Post Office is approved.
The U.S. Postal Service reportedly will end Saturday mail delivery in August 2013, but will continue to deliver packages on Saturdays.
According to an ABC News report, the agency is making the move to curb financial losses. The plan would save the agency about $2 billion annually, the report says.

Also, delivery to post office boxes would continue on Saturdays, the report says. And post offices now open on Saturdays, including the Norcross branches, would remain open on that day.
Over the past several years, the Postal Service has advocated shifting to a five-day delivery schedule for mail and packages. Though an independent agency, the service still is subject to congressional control.

It was not immediately clear how the service could eliminate Saturday mail without congressional approval, ABC News said.
A formal announcement is expected later Wednesday.
