While residents were more reserved about their voting status on the council race, they were mostly happy to pipe up about the issue of Sunday beer and wine sales in the city limits.

Norm Schklar voted in favor of the Sunday package sales, though he really doesn’t plan to purchase any alcohol on Sundays. “It adds to the city. It will bring more people in, helps business,” he said on his way out of the polls.

Francis Sigmon echoed that sentiment. While she doesn’t plan to shop for alcohol on Sundays, she thinks drinkers should have the choice without government interference.

C. Darrell Johnson voted against Sunday beer and wine sales. “We have many, many opportunities in our city,” he said. “We don’t need another opportunity for people to get intoxicated, to get in accidents.”
