Qualifying Still Open for Mayor and Two Council Seats

Citizens seeking office can toss their hat in the ring for the rest of the week.

Want to make a positive change in Norcross? Now's your chance. 

Three seats will open up this election cycle: the mayor and two councilmembers. 

Current Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson and current Councilmembers Charlie Riehm and Craig Newton have all indicated that they will run for office again. (Look for follow-up stories on Norcross Patch.)

Qualifying for office began Monday morning at 8:30 a.m and will end Friday, Sept. at 4:30 p.m. Intested parties should pick up a qualifying packet from the Office of the City Clerk anytime during business hours.  Qualifying fees are $207.00 for the office of mayor and $162.00 for a council seat. 

You must be 18 years of age and have been a resident for one year to qualify for the two-year term. Elections will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
