Policy Work Session Tonight

The property tax millage rate, streetscaping, the digital display reader and public art are some of the items up for discussion in Monday's meeting.

The July policy work session will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, in the second-floor conference room of , located at 65 Lawrenceville St. in downtown.

Some of the items on the agenda include:

-The proposal to construct five freestanding sculptures for the grounds around and through Heritage Park to bring foot traffic to the area. The art will be small, creative sculptures made of salvaged telephone handsets that were stored in a shed on Holcomb Bridge Road.

-A monetary quote has been made for a LCD digital display reader

-Rezoning a parcel on Goshen Springs Road from C-2 (commercial zone) to M-1 (light industrial). The location of the truck and trailor terminal connected to the 6014 Goshen Springs business is not allowed under C-2, according to proposal in the agenda.

-A special use permit has been requested for 5990 Unity Drive, Suite E. The petitioner wishes to operate a pawn shop and title loan in an area with buildings that are considered to be in the storage/warehousing category.

-The 2012 property tax millage rate

-A proposal for parkside streetscape along College Street and North Cemetery Street

-A revision of the city of Norcross' Tree Ordinance
