Oconee County Man Named GDOT Area Engineer for Gwinnett, Barrow Counties

Chris Dills has been appointed as Area Engineer for Gwinnett and Barrow counties.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced the appointment of Chris Dills as Area Engineer for Barrow and Gwinnett counties.
 
According to a press release, Dills has worked with DOT since 1994 where he began working as a maintenance worker in Gwinnett County. He moved up through the ranks  to Construction Project Manager and later Construction Project Engineer. Dills oversaw many projects such as the widening of US 441 from the Clarke Jackson County Line to Nicholson. In 2007, he became the Assistant Area Engineer for Construction over Barrow and Gwinnett counties.
 
As Area Engineer, Dills will be responsible for maintenance and construction on more than 300 centerline miles of interstate and state route in his area managing more than 30 employees. Dills promotion became effective Feb. 1
 
“Chris will do a great job as Area Engineer. He works well with the Local Officials as well as their Staff. He is a great conduit to keep projects moving forward and communication open. He is an asset to our District Management Team and to the Citizens of Georgia,” District Construction Engineer Johnny Emmett said in the press release.

Dill lives in Bogart with his wife Bobbie and son Will Hearn. Dill's follows in the footsteps of his fathe-in-law, Bobby Morris, a former Assistant Area Engineer for Gwinnett County who has since retired.
