I-85 Northbound Ramp Closed at Jimmy Carter This Weekend

Repairs will be made to fix a sinkhole, weather permitting.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that the Jimmy Carter Blvd onramp to I-85 Northbound will be closed for repairs from 7 a.m. Sunday, March 13 to 5 a.m. Monday, March 14.

The work will only happen if weather permits.

On March 1, a 3-ft long, 5-ft wide and 7-ft deep sinkhole occurred that was temporarily covered by a metal slab. The repairs would include excavating the area, replacing a pipe and then filling the hole, according to a GDOT announcement.

Officials urge travelers to avoid the area. The detour will take vehicles down Oakbrook Pkwy to the Indian Trail Rd onramp.

All other entrance ramps will be functional during the roadwork.
