How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Turn your tree to mulch to be used all over the city and county.

Whether you take down your tree as soon as the presents are ripped open or let the season linger well into January—you can help make Gwinnett and the City of Norcross beautiful by recycling your tree.

The City of Norcross has a year-round mulching program—and Christmas trees can be recycled as a part of the effort, even though regular trees cannot be because of their size. Sustainable Norcross got the mulching program going as a part of the Green Communities certification process.

Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is also asking you to donate your old trees to their annual "Bring One for the Chipper" tree recycling campaign. The trees will be turned into mulch to use in locations throughout the county.

From December 26th and January 16, 2012, Gwinnett County residents can take their undecorated Christmas trees to one of several locations for recycling. In Norcross, they include:

On Saturday, January 21st the collected trees will be taken to , where they will be shredded. Much of the mulch will then be used to help keep Gwinnett County Parks beautiful.

Volunteers are also needed for the big shred in January. Anyone over the age of 14 can sign up on Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful's website.
