Governor Signs Norcross Annexation Bill, Residents to Vote in November

HB 579 was signed by Nathan Deal today, sending it on to residents of the area for a vote.

Gov. Nathan Deal signed a legislation today that would allow about 3,000 residents of a nearby unincorporated area to decided if they'd like to become part of the City of Norcross.

House Bill 579 amends the city limits of Norcross, annexing in an area along Mitchell Road, bound by I-85 and Jimmy Carter Boulevard to the south and west. The residents of the proposed area will vote on the annexation measure on Nov. 1, 2011.

The bill was part of a flurry of singings--116 bills in total, many of them local legislation.
