City Council to Vote on Family Dollar Rezoning Tonight

The rezoning on Beaver Ruin Road will be on tonight's city council agenda.

The hot-button issue of the Family Dollar rezoning on Beaver Ruin Road will be on tonight's city council agenda.

Something that's been an issue for months now, the rezoning involves changing the 2570 Beaver Ruin Road lot from O-I (office institutional) to C-2 (general business district) in order to build a Family Dollar store there.

The proposal was in February, where many residents living on Light Circle and Beaver Ruin Road showed their outrage and disapproval.

The council decided to table it until its April meeting, though, because the company had proposed a revised plan that had not been reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Committee.

The committee has reviewed the new plan, and echoing its previous conclusion, reccomends denying the Family Dollar's rezoning request, according to the city's agenda notes.
