City of Norcross Recycling Event

On Sat. Oct. 15, the City of Norcross will host its annual community Clean-up Day, Shred Day, Paint Recycling and Electronics Recycling events and “CAN” DO for Hunger food drive! It's five events in one:

ONE: Clean-up Day - a great reason to clean out your garage or attic –throw out anything that’s not a hazardous material (open to City of Norcross residents only), the event is located at the Public Works Facility – 345 Lively Street -off Buford Hwy, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

TWO: Electronics Recycling means pack rats can get rid of old cell phones, computers and keyboards without guilt! For a complete list of what can and can’t be recycled, visit the City website and look on the flier. This event is open to the public.  Event is located at The Norcross Community Center, 10 College Street, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. NOTE: NOW ACCEPTING TELEVISIONS (EXCEPT CONSOLE AND PROJECTION) FOR A $10.00 FEE.

THREE: The Shredding Event is always incredible.  You can watch your materials being shredded on the video display monitor.  Participants  are invited to bring up to five boxes of confidential documents to shred.  Go-Green and be secure!  Did you know that one three (3) foot high stack of paper is equal to a tree standing thirty (30) feet tall?  After the secure shredding is complete, all materials will become recycled.  This event is open to the public.  Event is located in the front parking lot of Norcross City Hall, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until truck is full. 

FOUR: “CAN” Do for Hunger Campaign - Canned Food Collection for local food bank! Clean out your pantry and bring non-perishable food items, to be donated to our local food bank and given to members of our community in need.  We are asking all participants to bring a canned or non-perishable goods to support the 2011 “CAN” Do for Hunger Campaign.

FIVE: The new PAINT RENEW - Paint Recycling at our previous event was a HUGE success.  We recycled over 2,700 cans of paint.  Paint Recycling is a great way to get rid of those cans that still have that paint you no longer have a use for. Give old paint new life – RECYCLE!  Event is open to the public.  Event located in the parking lot north side of City Hall, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
