Woman Tries Bribing Officer After Running Stop Sign

Inside the Police Reports: The Norcross woman acted erratically during the entire ordeal.

A Gwinnett County Police officer arrested a woman who allegedly ran a stop sign on Independence Day, but not before she refused to give up her license, attempted to bribe the officer with cash and even defecated on herself.

Around 4:50 p.m. July 4, the officer saw the woman, 54 of unincorporated Norcross, roll through a stop sign at Oakbrook Parkway and Pirkle Road in her Honda Civic, according to the police report.

The officer pulled over the vehicle and explained to her that she didn't come to a complete stop.

She responded with, "How come you pull me over for that? I stopped."

The officer told her that they could talk about it more once he saw her driver's license.

She asked how she could be pulled over for running a "red light," to which the officer repeated that it was for a stop sign. He kept demanding for her license, but she refused and asked why she was stopped and why she needed to show her license.

The woman then asked what she could do to make the incident go away. The officer repeated that he would explain everything once he got her license. She only stared at him.

After the officer requested backup, the woman said, "How much do I need to pay? I have money."

The officer told her that he doesn't determine the fine, to which she only repeated the question and said she needed to go. She reached into her glove box and grabbed three $20 bills while the officer asked her for her driver's license for the sixth time. She responded by folding up the bills and extending them to the officer.

The officer advised her not to give him the money, but she kept her hand out, looked him in the eyes and said, "Walk away."

The officer arrested the woman and drove her to the Gwinnett County jail, but not without a few other bumps along with the way.

While the officer was placing handcuffs on her, she defecated on herself. Also, she was able to slip her hands out of the cuffs while the patrol car was traveling to the jail. The officer simply pulled over on I-85 and secured her handcuffs again.

The behavior didn't end at the detention center, either; the woman attempted to pull away from the officer three times while he walked her into the jail.

She was charged with bribery, failure to stop at an intersection and failure to display a driver's license on demand.
