Woman Threatens, Chases Husband With Knife

Inside the Police Blotter: The dispute intensified when the Norcross couple argued about her being pregnant with another man's baby.

A Norcross woman was arrested earlier this month after she threatened and chased her husband and caretaker with a knife.

According to the police report, around 10 p.m. April 18, the couple arrived home in unincorporated Norcross after going out to dinner.

The caretaker, 21, was at home and asked the husband and wife if they had a good dinner. They initially said it was good, but then the wife, 45, retracted her statement and called it "hell."

The wife and husband, 44, began to argue about a laundry list of things: divorce, how she had been seeing another man in Forsyth County and that she was pregnant with his child.

According to the caretaker, the wife grabbed a kitchen knife and walked into the living room where the two men were. She held up the knife, yelled "I'm going to kill you" to the husband, and then charged him.

The caretaker told Gwinnett County police that he shoved the woman in an attempt to protect the husband, who ran outside. Angry, she then charged the caretaker, and continued to chase him outside. He reached his car and left until Gwinnett County police arrived.

The woman reasoned that she was only protecting herself in the incident. She first told officers that the two men bombarded her in the bathroom and did not back away, so she picked up a knife that was allegedly in the bathroom. She later changed her story's location to the living room.

The woman told police that she has been arrested for the same charges in Forsyth County. In that incident, she alleged that the man she had been seeing was trying to hurt her, so she grabbed a sword.

According to the caretaker, both the husband and wife suffer from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The wife told police that she only takes medicine for her ADHD, though, and she said the Department of Family and Child Services said that she's mentally healthy.

Officers stated that they were at the residence multiple times in the previous days for similar disputes. The previous day, the "other man" was at the house having an argument with the husband, and the caretaker alleged that he had to break up the fight.

As the days went on, the severity of the altercations increased. The caretaker, who is there primarily to watch over the couple's son, did not want to press charges and only wanted for the mother to take her medicine.

Because the domestic issues have only gotten worse, the woman was placed under arrest for aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
