Woman Remains Missing Along Appalachian Trail in Maine

Geraldine Largay, who lived in Norcross until earlier this year, has been missing since about July 22.

Maine authorities said this week that they will begin scaling back the search for a missing hiker, who reportedly has ties to Norcross.

Geraldine Largay, who lived in Norcross until earlier this year, has been missing since about July 22. At that time, she failed to meet up with her husband for a scheduled stop.

On Aug. 4, the search was narrowed to 4.2 square miles along the Appalachian Trail. About 115 people, including game wardens, volunteers, and K-9 officers fanned out Sunday.

"At the conclusion of today’s search efforts there was no new attributing evidence or information found as to Geraldine’s location," authorities said Sunday.

Authorities said they will continue to follow up on any leads. If viable, local wardens and a nonprofit rescue group will search the area.
