A Norcross home is a complete loss following a Monday morning fire on Windmere Drive.
The resident of the home was not hurt during the blaze, and told firefighters that the smell of smoke provided an alert. There were no working smoke alarms in the home, however.
According to a press release:
When Gwinnett County firefighters arrived just after 9 a.m., they encountered the two-story home in heavy flames and smoke. A ladder truck helped control the blaze, and protect other homes.
The fire heavily damaged the home, burning through the roof and upper floor. In addition, two vehicles were totally damaged.
The adjacent home had minor damage from firefighting efforts. No injuries were reported.
According to officials, the resident has a place to stay and
will be using Red Cross assistance for clothing and other essentials.
