Victim Recognized Armed Robber from School

A young man was robbed at gunpoint while riding his bike to the gas station in unincorporated Norcross--and he said he knows the three men who robbed him from GIVE Center West.

A resident was riding his bike to the gas station on Sunday night, when he was approached by three young men, one of whom held a gun to his chest then took his money and cell phone, according to a police report. The victim of the armed robbery said he recognized the robbers as former students at GIVE Center West.

Jose Ibarra, who is 18 years old, left his Beaver Springs Lane home at about 11 p.m. on Sunday to head to the Marathon gas station. He hopped on his bike and decided to take two short cuts so he would be peddling on flatter ground, according to the statement he gave to police.

As he was riding through the Bradford Gwinnett apartments, he said he was approached by three black males who he described as between 17 and 20 years old.

One of the males, who is identified in the report as wearing a black sweater with gold designs and tan Capri shorts, took out a “small silver ‘six shot’ revolver” and held it against Ibarra’s chest.

According to the police report, Ibarra told the young men that he recognized him from the 2007 to 2008 school season at the GIVE Center to which the individual brandishing the gun replied, “Really, do you want me to blow one in your chest?”

The other two men, one described as being tall and thin with a bald head, white t-shirt and blue jeans and the other described as shorter with a white shirt and black sweater, took a $50 bill from Ibarra’s pocket and his cell phone.

Gwinnett County Police are still investigating this case.
