Suspected Serial Rapist Still at Large

Gwinnett Police attempted to arrest Joseph Sivonda, 23, Thursday at his Norcross apartment behind Beaver Ridge Elementary.

After an arrest attempt was made Thursday (May 2), a suspected serial rapist from the Norcross area is still at large.

Police say 23-year-old Joseph Tyler Sivonda was not at his home that morning when the Gwinnett County SWAT team went to Bradford Gwinnett Apartments, located at 100 Castor Dr. behind Beaver Ridge Elementary.

He is wanted on two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated sodomy, and two counts of rape, according to Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.

In addition to being 5’07” and 130 pounds, Sivonda has two visible tattoos, which can be see in the photos attached to this article. A tattoo of the word “India” can be seen at the base of Sivonda’s neck, and another tattoo is on his forearm that reads “Joseph.”

WSB-TV reports that police say the apartment complex was the site for multiple sexual assaults by Sivonda. According to the news station, police believe he used Backpage.com "to arrange the encounters with female escorts he planned to attack." The women would show up to meet him, and he would rob and assault them at gunpoint, authorities told WSB-TV.
