Shots Fired on Barton St. May Have Been Result of 'Road Rage'

Three shells were found but no injuries or damage reported.

People in two cars got into an altercation outside of downtown Norcross that led to one car following the other—then firing shots near Barton Street and Sunset Drive on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The incident began at 5700 Buford Hwy around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, according to Cpt. Brian Harr of the Norcross Police Dept. The business listed at that address is . Two cars, which police believe may have each had two people in them, got into an altercation, leading one car to chase the other into downtown Norcross.  Harr believes the people could have been in a “road rage” type of fight or other altercation. 

The cars made their way down Jones Street and across the railroad tracks, taking a right on Barton Street. Three shots were apparently fired around Barton and Sunset. Norcross Police recovered three shell casings from the area and no injuries or damages have been found.

Police spoke to the two people in one of the vehicles, who did not provide a clear description of the other car. The incident is still under investigation, according to Harr.
