Search Continues for Missing Woman Along Appalachian Trail in Maine

Geraldine Largay, an experienced hiker, has been missing for about a week. She has ties to Norcross, but currently lives in Tennessee.

It's been week since a woman with Norcross ties was last seen or heard from as while hiking the Appalachian Trail, and authorities in Maine are still searching for her.

On Monday (July 29), Maine Warden Service said approximately 30 people were searching for the the missing hiker, Geraldine Largay of Tennessee. The search has been narrowed to a 14-mile stretch of the trail.

She previously lived in Norcross with her husband, George, until earlier this year, according to 11Alive.

She was supposed to meet up with her husband on July 22 at a predetermined pit stop, but the woman never showed up, according to WCSH 6 News in Portland, Maine.

Since that time, authorities say they received information from an unknown female hiker stating that Largay was with her as late Tuesday, July 23 - to wait out heavy rains.
