Robber Nabs Lunchbox Instead of Purse

Inside the Police Reports: The armed robbery took place along Harbins Road and Singleton Road in unincorporated Norcross.

A man took a woman's lunchbox instead of her purse during a Norcross-area robbery this past Halloween.

According to the Gwinnett County police report, the woman was walking along Harbins Road toward Singleton Road in unincorporated Norcross around 6:20 p.m. that Wednesday. While she was near the Dollar General on Singleton, a man came out of the woods, pointed a handgun in her face and demanded for her purse.

She instead handed him her purple polka-dotted lunchbox, and the suspect ran off either into the woods or Teremont Circle, the victim said.

The woman, who did not speak English well and had her son translate to police, described the suspect as a black male who was short and overweight. He wore black sunglasses, a black bandana and dark clothing. His weapon was a black large-frame handgun.

She told police that she had never seen the man before and she could not remember anything else because it was dark outside. Officers checked the surrounding area but could not find anyone matching the description of the suspect.
