Creflo Dollar Jr., whose megachurch World Changers has a satellite church in Peachtree Corners, was arrested Friday in Fayette County for allegedly assaulting his 15-year-old daughter.
He's been charged with simple battery, family violence and cruelty to children, according to the police report. Investigator Brent Rowan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office told Norcross Patch that Dollar was booked into the county jail around 2 a.m. but was released later that same morning.
He was released on a $5,000 bond, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The victim told police that, after getting into an argument with his daughter around 1 a.m., Dollar allegedly put his hands around her throat and began to choke her. She added that he then "slammed her face to the ground" and began punching her, while also "whooping" her with his shoe.
Police noted seeing a scratch on the right side of her neck caused by the altercation.
Dollar told police that he did not strike her at all, but instead tried to "restrain" her when she became disrespectful. She started to hit back, he said, so he wrestled her to the floor and spanked her.
Dollar's other daughter, 19, told police that she did not see her sister fight her father at all. She saw their father slapping her younger sister in the face and throw her to the ground, and she attempted to break free. The older daughter ran to get her mother, Taffi Dollar, and the pastor stopped, says the report.
Dollar runs Creflo Dollar industries, and his main World Changers Church is in College Park. The church has 15 locations across multiple states, including Athens and Marietta, according to its website. The Norcross/Peachtree Corners satellite meets at 6920 Jimmy Carter Blvd.
Dollar is often mentioned in lists of prominent Georgia pastors.
