Police: Wrong-Way Driver Causes Four-Car Accident on I-85 in Gwinnett

Alysha Harvin was arrested near the Beaver Ruin Road exit in the area of Norcross and Lilburn, and charged with the accident.

A wrong-way driver on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett County caused a four-car accident on the highway early Sunday morning, according to police.

Gwinnett County police say passers-by first spotted Alysha Harvin, of Jonesboro, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-85 near mile marker 106, near  the exit for State Route 316 (toward Lawrenceville) about 4 a.m.

Near the Pleasant Hill Road exit, Harvin then caused a four-car accident, police believe. One of the cars involved flipped several times while the others crashed into each other. No one was injured.

The wrong-way fiasco lasted about four miles, and police caught up with the suspect near the Beaver Ruin Road exit in the Norcross and Lilburn area of the county.

Harvin was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center at approximately 5:14 a.m. on Aug. 25. She was released on bond 12 hours later.

She is charged with driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the road, reckless driving and hit and run.
