Police are seeking a Gwinnett County man for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in unincorporated Norcross, according to Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter.
Investigators believe the man, Deivi Polanco, kidnapped the victim while she was walking into her apartment April 16 around 1:30 a.m.
Wearing a mask, he allegedly bounded her hands and covered her face with duct tape, according to a synopsis from the investigator. He drove for 30 minutes and stopped at an apartment where he assaulted her multiple times.
He took her to a second location near Graves Road and Treehouse Parkway, and he left her there in an abandoned apartment.
Still bound with duct tape and zipties, she was able to escape through an open window. She sought help from a nearby apartment and called police.
Through further investigation, police were able to identify the suspect and discovered that he was in possession of the victim's cell phone, which was located in his abandoned car.
According to WSB-TV, police said the victim and the suspect knew each other, and that he had a motive. Polanco is wanted on charges of rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and carjacking.
As of 2 p.m. April 25, the suspect was still not in custody, according to Ritter.
