Police Receive $2,450 from Norcross PD Foundation

The funds were raised through sponsors and booth sales from National Night Out.

The Norcross Police Department Foundation presented a check of $2,450 to the city police last Thursday.

The funds were raised from booth sales and sponsors for the city's first National Night Out, the Aug. 7th celebration of America's "Night Out Against Crime."

"It's a fantastic program," said Norcross Police Capt. Clay Thompson. "Anything that brings the community together, brings interacting between the community and the police department, it's a positive thing."

The funds will go to a number of projects within the Norcross Police Department, including the Cool Cops, a body armor air conditioning piece for on-duty officers. to the department in June.

Other projects are: a theft prevention program; a child ID kit, which allows parents and guardians to record children's fingerprints and physical characteristics on a card; reflective awareness bracelets; and coloring and activity books for educating kids on important safety topics.
