Police: Kids Found Home Alone in Bug-Infested Apartment

Inside the Police Reports: Authorities also found old food on the floor of every room and clothes everywhere in the Norcross-area home.

Police found a filthy, bug-infested apartment earlier this month when they responded to a 911 call about three small children being left alone in the home.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, a woman called police to report that her neighbor's girls, ages 5, 3 and 1, had been left alone in their Norcross-area apartment complex. The kids had knocked on her door some time after midnight and she took them in.

Authorities responded to Forest Vale Apartments, located at 1100 Forest Vale Ln. and spoke with the oldest child. The 5-year-old told police that their father had left to pick up their mom from work.

The officer checked out the girls' apartment, which had its door open. While inside, police saw old food on the floor of every room, clothes all over the place, and a large amount of bugs in the home.

The father, Dominic Tucker, 27, and the mother returned home around 2:40 a.m. He told police that his brother was supposed to come over to watch the children, but he had no real answer when the officer asked why he didn't wait for his brother's arrival.

Tucker was arrested and sent to the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of second-degree child cruelty and reckless conduct. The wife was not arrested but agreed to take the children to stay at her father's residence off Singleton Road. Police contacted the Division of Family and Children Services about the situation.
