Police Departments Team Up to Find CVS Robbery Suspect

A man entered a Norcross CVS last Thursday in broad daylight with a handgun and demanded money. Norcross Police and the Gwinnett County Police Department were able to put their heads together to zero in on a suspect, who is now in custody.

Edward Underwood, 45, has been arrested in connection with the case. Detention Center records include a Conyers address and a Lawrenceville address for Underwood. 

At about 4:30 p.m. on June 9, the Norcross Police got a call about an armed robbery at the CVS at 5304 Buford Hwy. Those in the store said that a man approached the cash register to check out, then took out the gun and demanded cash. It is not known how much money the employee handed over.

Gwinnett Police shared information with Norcross about a man wanted for robbery in Gwinnett County and elsewhere, along with a description of his car that seemed to match the description of the CVS burglar.

Police zeroed in on the suspect and the car in an unincorporated area of Gwinnett and were able to take him in without incident, according to a Norcross release.

Underwood has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Weapon During a Crime and Armed Robbery.
