The suspect wanted for in unincorporated Norcross was arrested Wednesday, according to the Gwinnett County Docket Book.
Deivi Mauris Polanco was admitted into the Gwinnett County Jail at 9:35 a.m. May 2 for a number of charges: aggravated stalking, burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, rape, theft by taking, hijacking a car, interfering with a call for emergency assistance and violation of probation.
Gwinnett County Police told WSB-TV that they took him into custody when he showed up at the jail for a hearing unrelated to the aforementioned incident.
Polanco, also a resident in the Norcross area, allegedly kidnapped the victim while she was walking into her apartment April 16 around 1:30 a.m., according to the Gwinnett investigator.
Wearing a mask, he allegedly bounded her hands and covered her face with duct tape. He drove for 30 minutes and stopped at an apartment where he assaulted her multiple times.
He took her to a second location near Graves Road and Treehouse Parkway, and he left her there in an abandoned apartment.
Still bound with duct tape and zipties, she was able to escape through an open window. She sought help from a nearby apartment and called police.
Through further investigation, police were able to identify Polanco and discovered that he was in possession of the victim's cell phone, which was located in his abandoned car.
