Employee Had Baby in Arms During Armed Robbery

Paris Fragrance Perfume was robbed last week while a newborn baby was in the employee's arms, according to a police statement.

A fragrance store in unincorporated Norcross was allegedly robbed last week while a 1-month-old baby was in the employee's arms.

The crime took place Oct. 24 around 6:20 p.m. at Paris Fragrance Perfume, located at 5456 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, according to a Gwinnett County Police report. The suspect took the money from the store's cash register, and no one was physically injured.Β

According to the report, the victims, females aged 33 and 75, were working in the front of the store. The older employee had the baby in her arms when a white male entered while talking on his cell phone.

He started inquiring the younger employee about some of the perfumes, then asked if she could exchange some of his spare coins for bills.

The victims said that when she opened the register, the man reached for his waist and pulled up a black hat with something black underneath it. Neither victim could identify what the hidden object was, but he pointed the hat at the 33-year-old while he reached for the money in the register.

She told Gwinnett County police that she tried to grab the telephone, but he told her not to move. He added that nothing would happen to the baby as long as the elder employee didn't move, either, the report said.Β

The suspect left out the front door and ran across Dawnson Boulevard, in the direction of Joseph Way. The 33-year-old then called authorities.

The older victim told police she has the incident recorded on video, but she doesn't know how to operate the surveillance system. She said her husband will make a copy of the video, but there's no further information at this time.
