A pedestrian was hit by a train and killed early Thursday morning in an unincorporated area of Norcross, according to Gwinnett Police.
Cpl. Jake Ritter reported that Gwinnett Police responded to a call at 5:45 a.m. regarding two persons potentially struck by a train in the area of Jones Mill Road and Button Gwinnett Drive.
"One of the pedestrians managed to get out of the way without injury," Ritter said in a press release. "The other pedestrian was hit by the oncoming train and died on the scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision," he said.
Motorists are advised to detour around the area.
