Norcross Officer Injured in Beaver Ruin Crash

The incident caused a major traffic jam Friday morning for an hour to an hour and a half.

A Norcross Police officer was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Beaver Ruin Road around 8:30 a.m. Friday, resulting in minor injuries for the officer.

According to a press release, the accident occurred near the intersection of Norcross Parkway.

Preliminary information shows that "the officer was eastbound on Beaver Ruin Road on routine patrol when a vehicle traveling westbound turned left into the path of the patrol unit," the release says.

With minor injuries, the 43-year-old officer was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center as a precaution. The driver of the other vehicle was not transported.

The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been reported. The incident caused a major traffic jam Friday morning for an hour to an hour and a half.
